Member Downloads Element

The Member Downloads element allows you to show all available downloads for a member that have been added to products they have purchased through OptimizeCheckouts.

Please watch this video for an overview of the element and how to use it:

Introduction

If you want logged in users to be able to see all their downloads that they have purchased through the checkouts plugin, then this element will be very helpful to you.

What does the Member Downloads element do?

If you have added downloadable files to your checkouts products, this will show all of those downloads that a member has access to all within the same element – giving you the opportunity to have a “Downloads” page in your membership area.

How is this different than the Checkouts Downloads element?

The Checkouts Downloads element will show the downloads immediately after the sale, on your thank you page – which is protected by the security hash generated for that specific order.

The way the Member Downloads element works, is it will queue up the downloadable files from all of that specific members previous orders and then add them to the page where the element is added. These are then sorted by product name as you can see in the below example from the products “Grow a Garden” and “ebook download”

This helps to eliminate confusion on how to get the downloads later, after they have closed the thank you page where you may have shown the checkouts downloads element already.

We created this to have an easier way to manage these.

Adding the Member Downloads

To add the Member Downloads element to your page, click the + icon either on the top left or in the column you want to add it to. Then drag & drop it into your page. You can search for “Downloads” to find this element.

Once you add it to the page, you’ll be able to choose a preset style. More of these will be added later.

After selecting the preset (the default one always loads immediately anyways), you will see the Member downloads toolbar.

Styling the Member Downloads element

It’s fairly easy to edit the styles of text and the buttons in the Member Downloads element. Just click on what you need to edit, and you’ll see the toolbar to make changes. If I wanted to put a background color on the header, and then change the product title color to go along with the background, I could do that like this:

you can change the product title color like this

You can change the file name text (as well as file description) separately as well:

The button can also be edited on its own

Edit the Status Message

When a member doesn’t have any downloads, this will trigger the status message like you see here:

To edit the status message, you can activate this in the Member Downloads toolbar. Click on the element, and then make sure you are on the main toolbar by clicking “Member Downloads” from the top of the screen like this:

Then, you will see where to edit the status message:
