Splitting a funnel path is useful. We already do this automatically for upsell and downsell funnels when you use our templates, however there may be other cases where you would want to split the path of a funnel, such as if you have two payment options for your buyers. Perhaps you have a Monthly plan and a Yearly plan, which we’ll use in the examples below.
Split Funnel Path
First, the option to split the path is under the “Edit” option in the funnel builder. Simply click “Edit” and then “Add No Step”
Just click the green “OK” button to split the path.
Now you’ll see a new path has been created
Clone Pages To the NO Path
The goal here in this example is to clone the checkout and summary pages into the NO path
Hover your mouse pointer over the red “N” icon and you’ll see that it turns into a “+” icon.
Click on that and you’ll see that you can add a new page. You can choose a template or clone a page. We are going to clone an existing page.
Once you choose to clone an existing page, just click on the page in the funnel visualizer to clone it.
You will get a chance to rename the page as well.
Just click the green “OK” button to clone the existing funnel page into the new path. Now you’ll see that you have two paths coming from the sales page. You can see that I renamed the page to “Annual Coaching” in this example.
Now repeat the steps for the order summary page. It should look like this, though I had to collapse the stats by clicking “build” on the top right to hide the stats so I could see the entire funnel without scrolling.
How to Use the No Step Path
Now what we have to do is choose the No Step path for the Annual Coaching option. So we are going to edit the sales page. I decided to re-create the checkout button on the Marketer Pro sales page (as I selected that template set for this demo). This gives me a button for the monthly option, and another button for the annual option. The reason I did it this way is so any tracking scripts we are using that would detect an “add to cart” action would still work on the NO step (instead of using a pop overlay for that button and having the checkout on there).
For the Monthly Coaching, I am setting the button to “Go to Next Funnel Page (Yes)” to go down the path of the Monthly Coaching.
For the Annual Coaching, I am choosing the “Go to Next Funnel Page (No)” option to go down the new funnel path we created for the Annual Coaching.
Now you should have a good understanding about what this feature can do for your funnels.
Useful for Split Testing
Splitting the path of your funnel so you can send your buyers or leads down one of two paths is a great way to add more options to your funnel, and to customize it based on what you need.
To take this a step further, if you wanted to split test your pricing options instead of showing both of those on the main sales page, you could run a split test on the sales page, and still direct the buttons to go down the proper path.
